Gifts in a jar – what a great idea!
By: Monica Foth
Gifts in a jar are about as unique a gift as they come. They are fun and easy to put together and make a perfect homemade gift. Recipes for gifts in a jar may be from your own favourite collection or you may choose to search the web for new ideas.
Most of the ingredients you will require for gifts in a jar, you already have in your kitchen. You will need a decorative or a canning jar, some labels or cards, ribbon and colourful fabric. Some ideas for might include breads, brownies, cakes, muffins, cookies, hot beverage mixes, and soups. These dry ingredients are added to the jar by layers in an artful way. To finish decorating the jar, you simply cut a round piece of fabric to cover the lid allowing some to hang over the edge, screw down the jar ring, add a little ribbon if you like and you are done.
To attach the recipe instructions to the jar, punch a hole in the corner of the card, slip the ribbon through and tie it around the jar. Your gifts in a jar are now ready to give!
